Request for proposals: Brand refresh and logo redesign

Dryad invites proposals from designers with experience communicating in the scholarly research sector, for a brand refresh, to include an updated logo, color palette and fonts, and web redesign.

Background

Dryad got its start almost 20 years ago — the outcome of a meeting of US-based ecology researchers and institutions. Today, it’s an international nonprofit serving all disciplines within science and medicine, with the most robust data standards in the marketplace.

The overall goal of our rebrand is to reflect Dryad’s evolution from scrappy startup to a premier global data publisher serving researchers from across the entire spectrum of scientific research.

We’re looking for an updated brand that embodies Dryad’s identity as:

  • A non-profit service operating in the community interest
  • Service oriented, personal, hands-on curation
  • High-integrity, high-quality, and technologically sophisticated

Scope

Included in the project are 1) core brand elements, such as logo, color palette, and font; 2) accessible web redesign including template looks for several different page types; and 3) marketing templates, such as slides and social media cards in the same style.

Designers will work with our Executive Director, communications staff, and in-house technical team to understand scope and aims in greater detail.

Our in-house team will implement designs on the live website.

How to submit

Dryad invites interested freelancers and firms to submit a proposal including a short summary of how you would plan to develop the brand, relevant samples, suggested timeline, and bid to partnerships@dryad.org no later than May 29, 2026.

Feedback and questions are always welcome, to hello@datadryad.org
