Supporting essential open infrastructure: Dryad selected for SCOSS funding

With over a decade of experience providing high-quality data publishing, curation, and preservation, Dryad is modeling best practices for research data infrastructure. In recognition of its relevance to the global research community, Dryad has been endorsed by a global consortium of research organizations committed to funding open infrastructure.

The Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) selected Dryad for its fourth funding cycle, citings Dryad’s ease of use, not-for-profit status and community governance, standards-compliance, and support for multidisciplinary data. SCOSS brings together a global network of institutions united around the common goal of investing in open infrastructure to support the future of open science. The SCOSS community identified “FAIR Open Access repository services” and “open research data infrastructure and services” as two of the three top funding priorities for the 2022 cycle. Dryad’s advanced data curation and publishing services are well-aligned with these priorities.

SCOSS funding will allow Dryad to leverage a pivotal moment as a flood of new data sharing policies underscores the importance of robust support for research data. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with the SCOSS community to bolster our support for best practices for data sharing and reuse.

SCOSS completes a rigorous vetting process of all promoted infrastructures to ensure their organizational sustainability and relevance to the international open research community. Only a few infrastructures are selected for endorsement each year. Dryad joins a cohort of three infrastructures SCOSS will promote this year, alongside Research Organization Registry (ROR) and La Referencia

Through SCOSS, institutions can commit funding to Dryad that will allow us to grow our outreach and promotion efforts to bring new members into our community; increase community engagement with current members and users; and stay at the forefront of best practice for data-sharing and building best practice for data reuse.
